Four Decades of Music, One Story Still Being Written.
Some bands come and go. Others leave a story unfinished. The Big Sky is still writing theirs.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1984, The Big Sky emerged from the city’s vibrant post-punk scene, developing a distinctive musical identity rooted in original songwriting and creative collaboration. From their first performance at the Waters Club in 1986 to appearances at legendary venues including The Roxy Theatre, Whisky a Go Go, and The Troubadour, the band became part of Southern California’s thriving rock scene.
Although regular live performances ended in 1997, the music and friendships endured. The members continued collaborating on individual projects, preserving the chemistry that first brought them together.
In 2020, Matthew Asner (Vocals), Isaac Bernato (Drums), Erik Ambro (Bass), and Frank Dolce (Guitar) reunited to begin an exciting new recording chapter.
In 2026, working once again with longtime collaborator and Grammy Awarding-winning engineer/producer Frank Wolf, The Big Sky is preparing to release 10 newly recorded tracks, alongside previously recorded demo’s and music from its archives.
More than four decades later, The Big Sky isn’t simply revisiting its past, It’s creating its future.
